Top > Mentorship and Support > MSW Micro Structure WorkshopMSW is one of several activities aimed at stimulating the development and industrial use of MEMS. It was initiated by Jan Söderkvist in 1994. The 6th MSW, held in 2006, had over 150 participants and was supported by VINNOVA, SSF and KK-stiftelsen/minST. MSW has been very well recieved and its continuation is a consequence of a strong general request. MSW is intended as a creative catalyser and a forum where industrial people, researchers, financiers and national organizations can meet on equal terms. It also targets to be a seed to a network between the most important national actors. Some participants know much about microsystems, others have a strong application know-how, while still others have ideas or a general curiosity. MSW highlights the industrial use of MEMS and it therefore complements scientific conferences. A key factor is its informal atmosphere which has stimulated several successful industrial projects and many interesting contacts. MSW is intended not only for those working actively in the area, but equally well for those in both industry and academy that have a general interest in MEMS. MSW targets that a majority of the participants should come from industry.
