MSB is a quarterly newsletter that was published by Colibri. Its purpose was to promote the industrial use of MEMS, micromachining, and components based thereon, and to serve as an informal link between people in industry and academics actively working in this field. Recurring topics included applications, facilities, the toolbox, and industrial and academic R&D activities. MSB targeted both newcomers and experienced readers. The paper version was distributed free of charge within the Nordic region (DK, FIN, NO, SE) and primarily electronically to far-away readers. A complication was that MSB relied on a single person's hobby activity and was run on a non-profit basis. As easily realized, this is not a realistic long-term solution, and MSB took a time-out starting 2000 while searching for a solution that could guarantee an unbiased high-quality development of the MSx concept. A new professional concept was created in 2002/2003 that included an excellent new team, collaboration with media, and several other new and interesting ingredients. The response was very positive. Unfortunately, our wish to have a financial platform with a foundation of national support turned out to be incompatible with the Swedish government's negative attitude towards support to the Swedish electronics industry in general. Therefore, in March 2003 it was decided to permanently discontinue MSB. Its last issue, MSB 99:4-00:2, was published in December 1999.
